TERPS Professional

 New Features

TERPS Professional has been enhanced and updated for its latest release. The menu structure is different and reflects the continued development of this valuable software tool.

 VFR Traffic Pattern

Under the MAP menu item you will find the automated procedures to display:

Primary Surface
Horizontal Surface
Approach Surface
Transitional Surface
Near Airport Surface - FAR 77.23(a)(2)
VFR - Traffic Pattern Airspace

To analyze and display the VFR Traffic Pattern Airspace simply select "VFR - Traffic Pattern Airspace" identify the category of aircraft and number of possible aircraft in the flight pattern (or accept the defaults). The area will instantly display. If your structure is located within the displayed areas and maximum allowable height (AMSL) will be shown.

The default for Category of Aircraft is "C" and the maximum number of aircraft in the traffic pattern is "4". If the length of the runway is less than 2000 feet it is not unreasonable to select a lower category of aircraft such as "A" or "B". The area specified under VFR Traffic Pattern Airspace increases in size from "A" to "D". The area is constant from 1 to 4 aircraft in the traffic pattern. As the number of aircraft in the traffic pattern increases above 4 the size of the area increase. For small airports the default of 4 should be more than adequate.

 IAP Draw

This item has been moved from the MAP menu to a new menu item "Draw".

IAP Draw
MAP Surface
Departure Surface

IAP Draw now requires the user to identify the runway in the Runway Select List Box at the top of the screen. This allows identification of the procedure when the user wishes to draw the Missed Approach (MAP).

Missed Approach Surface (MAP), a new feature of Terps 2000, provides display of the Missed Approach Surface. The Missed Approach Surface begins at the Missed Approach Point and the elevation is the MDA - the ROC. This surface extend out at a 40:1 slope and extend 15 NM.

Departure Surface is the area directly in from of the departure end of the runway. It begins 35 feet above the runway surface and extends our 2 NM at a 40:1 surface. Select this item and draw the surface along the runway centerline extended a distance of 2 NM. The height of the Zone 1 surface is shown at the cursor position.

 Options

Options was located under the MAP menu. It was located to its own menu position because of the need to changes options often while conducting an aeronautical study.

Zoom now has buttons to increase and decrease the work area. These are low located on the Airport Tool Bar. The master Zoom Control is still available for large changes.
