 FAA analysis criteria for VFR – Traffic Pattern Airspace

The new criteria issued by the FAA on December 21, 1999 is covered by the existing version of the software (Airspace Version 5.99.35).

Proposed structures that penetrate the following surfaces for VFR Traffic Pattern Airspace will be issued a hazard by the FAA.

Airport Surfaces

  1. Horizontal Surface  (Airspace Report for FAR Part 77 Surfaces)
  2. Conical Surface  (Airspace Report for FAR Part 77 Surfaces)
  3. Approach Surface  (Airspace Report for FAR Part 77 Surfaces)
  4. Transitional Surface adjacent to Approach Surface  (Airspace Report for FAR Part 77 Surfaces)
  5. Near Airport Surface  FAR 77.23(a)(2)  (Airspace Report for FAR Part 77 Surfaces)

Using Airspace OMS Software for VFR Analysis

Airspace will now produce an analysis report of impact of your proposed structure on VFR – Traffic Pattern Airspace for the airports under study. Contact Us to request a sample report.

TERPS Professional and TERPS Advanced will conduct a complete analysis in accordance with the published criteria. It will display the area covered by the new criteria and if the proposed structure is located in the area it will specify the maximum allowable height.
