May 2013 Revision

Airspace® Improvements – Airspace has been improved to provide a clear response to notification near FAA communication facilities such as: ATCT, RCAG, RCO and RTR type facilities. The minimum notice limitation distance is 1.5NM. This requires the total spurious attenuation below the carrier level to be at least 76dB in the frequency range of 118-137 MHz, 73dB in the frequency range of 162-174 MHz and 70 dB in the frequency range of 225-400 MHz. This should be no problem for modern telecommunication equipment. Maximum ERP is 3.5 KW. The -104 dB level at the victim FAA receiver is achieved at 3.6 NM for the frequency band 118-137 MHz. This only applies to the frequencies identified in the FAA/FCC co-location policy with the exception of 21.3-23.6 GHz. The FAA has stated their intent to remove these frequencies in the final rule.
